Some of my best rides have been deep in the hills, where the nearest road is probably 20 miles away over a combination of single track and fire road. Good examples of Epic Rides available close to Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland are the Cairngorms Loop completed over a two day period or the Glen Avon circuit in a day. A really good ride that I did with Kenny earlier in 2006 was up the Gleann an t-Slugain and back over Cullardoch. Still a good covering of snow in places and some excellent wild camping locations. Recommended.... Plans are in place to try the route at night with a wild bivi - anyone up for it? Give them a try, dress accordingly and enjoy.
